How we test
PIXELBENCH does not own speed-test servers. The browser talks NDT7 over WebSocket to a Measurement Lab node. Locate API picks the nearest public NDT server (shown here after you start). About 10 seconds download, then 10 seconds upload. Ping, jitter and loss come from that same session.
This is the path from you to that M-Lab node — not to Netflix, not to Ookla’s pool, not to fast.com (Netflix CDN). Different servers and peering, so Mbps will not match Speedtest.net. Fine for a casual check. Do not cite it in a report or an SLA.
We do not keep your result. M-Lab may keep the measurement for internet research under their privacy policy. Hobby site — who / legal.
